FLAUNT IT FRIDAYS BLOG HOP

Hey All My Crafty Friends

Welcome to the Flaunt It Friday's  Hello Kitty Blog Hop. If you are here from DORCAS http://4craftyangels.blogspot.com/ than you are in the right spot. If you just arrived here and would like to start from the beginning please go directly to the Flaunt It Friday's blog by clicking on the link http://www.flauntitfridays.blogspot.com/

For this week's challenge we were asked to flaunt the Hello Kitty with Airplane on Page 65 from the Hello Kitty Greetings Cart.

I chose to do ALTER the dollar wooden frames that you get at Micheal's so love these little wooden frames they make the best little gifts...and one of my favorite things to give

For those of you that follow my blog you know that I was blessed back in November with my first Granddaughter Raegan Elizabeth so I felt the need to make a frame for one of the 10,000 pictures of have taken of her over that last 6 weeks..
( She already has the Paparazzi after her....THAT WOULD BE ME !!!) LOL!!

So this is what I came up with
Love PINK BLACK AND WHITE together
You can never go WRONG with those colors !!

Here's a Close-Up of the HK (she is all BLINGED out in her little Plane !!

I used Black Glitter Paper for the cut along with PINK embossed pattered paper for the PLANE
The background paper came from the PARIS NIGHTS stack by GCD
I cut the plane @ 4 inches

The banner to the side of the plane came from CHRISTMAS CHEER cut @ 3 1/2 inches on FIT TO LENGTH. wich gave it an 1 1/4 width size.

Close -Up of her Name

Hello Kitty Font cut @ 1 1/2 inches shadow and font

BLOG HOP PROJECT!!!!

For my next project I chose to use the adorable HK on page 30.  I use this cut all the time when I need a super cute cut for a girl layout or card

It works everytime and SCREAMS SWEETNESS AND GIRL !!! Don't cha think???

For my second project I chose to GLASS ETCH my sweet little HELLO KITTY
I know glass etch ??? Who would have thought ?? huh ??

But SOMETIMES YOU JUST GOT TO FLAUNT IT !!!

For those of you who have never tried glass etching...all I can say is...

It is TOTALLY ADDICTIVE...once you learn how you will be glass etching EVERYTHING !!! LOL

I have giving a little tutorial on the process..but it does take some time to get the hang of it..My best advice is to  buy some inexpensive items and EXPERIMENT...you will soon be a
GLASS ETCHING DIVA !!
And your friends will be so impressed...That you made it yourself !!

So on to the project:

***IMPORTANT : WEAR GLOVES !!!!***

I purchased and inexpensive plate from Wal-Mart
for $2.50 the round plates were less expensive but I was so Digging the
SQUARE PLATE ...
I also purchased the matching SQUARE CUP !!
Cool huh??

Next I design HK and all her layers using DESIGN STUDIO
(Note you have to hide all the contours in the layer pieces and only use what you need to build your HELLO KITTY)

Place a piece of vinyl on the mat and cut your design
**new mats work the best in holding the vinyl**

Should look like this when your done cutting
Weed out the parts of the vinyl that you want to etch
Place Transfer tape over the vinyl making sure to fully adhere the tape to the vinyl
Remove all AIR BUBBLES !!!!
Place vinyl on BACK SIDE of glass plate and remove all AIR BUBBLE !!
I used a wooden spoon but you could also use a credit card
Once it is adhered down GOOD remove the transfer tape SLOWLY making sure the vinyl doesn't lift from the glass
Place painters tape around the vinyl
(because the etching cream may run)
Should kinda look like this (all taped off)
Apply Etching Cream making sure to get in the lines of your design
** be very generous when applying **
Think coats work the BEST !!
Should look like this when applied
Set the timer for 10 MINUTES
The bottle says 6 to 7 minutes but I have learned that 10 minutes gives you a DEEPER ETCH
*** the thicker the glass the longer you might have to etch **
Rinse your project over Running Water
removing all the etching cream from your project
Remove the tape and vinyl from you project
Wash your project throughly with soap and water
Dry completely

Now look in amazement and what you just created !!!

This is the completed Project

LOVE HOW THIS TURNED OUT !!!!
SUPER CUTE !! :0)

Close -Up of Plate
It was so much fun to do and I hope you will give it a try!!

I also made a matching cup using the HK Flower on page 47
using the same etching process....

Close -Up of Cup

So this is a blog hop and no blog hop would be complete with out some BLOG CANDY Right???
So my scrapping bestie Kendra aka SCRAPPIN CRICUT has donated one of her fabulous extension cords for your cricut or your gypsy... I have one of these and it is the BOMB !! I can use my gypsy on one side of my scraproom and cut on the other side without having to fumble with that SHORT cord that comes with our gypsy....I also use it with my design studio cord and it has made my life so much easier.

Totally awesome. I haven't taken the plunge into vinyl but your tutorial sure makes it tempting. TFS

Melissa,

Congratulations on your granddaughter (with a beautiful name!)!!! :) I love the frame you altered! And your etching turned out great! Thank you so much for taking the time to do a tutorial! Now I am inspired to try it (my children would love it!).

Thanks for sharing and for the chance to win (as a new Gypsy owner, the cord would certainly come in handy),
