CCC CHALLENGE # 47

Hey Crafty Friends

This week over at CCC the design team was asked to make a Breast Cancer Awareness card, using any cartridge and color.  Breast Cancer Research is a organization that I try to support when ever I can.  My Grandmother died of breast cancer in 1997 and my mother-in-law is a breast cancer survivor for 15 years now...

Breast cancer research has come along way since my Granmother had it. It is true some of us will get breast cancer and some of us will not, but prevention is the key... I know we are all very busy but it only takes a few minutes to check for lumps and getting yearly female exams is a must... We as mothers spend so much time taking care of everybody else that we seem to never have enough time for ourselves.

So to all my readers please take the time to take care of yourself...with that said I am getting down from the "SOAP BOX"..lol

So back to the challenge..... when I found out I would be making a breast cancer card the ideas seem to pour out from everywhere.....I don't know why maybe because it means so much to me that we find a cure....So in typical "Melissa Style".  I started thinking "outside the box".  I knew I didn't want to do a typical pink ribbon card, but what to do..... I wanted to remind all my girlfriends that taking care of themselves is important but I had to add a little humor to a sometimes uncomfortable subject.

So here it is:  I hope it makes you smile and reminds you to take care of yourself.

Card Front

Pedestal Flap

Card is a Pedestal Card 4/1/4 x 5 1/2 (each mat is 1/4 in smaller than the previous)
Boo (Mini Monsters) of course I did !!!!
Bees (Create A Critter) cut @ 2,1 1/2, 1 inch
Wording (Feeling Groovy)
Check Mark (Hand Cut)
Black Brads (from my Stash)
Diamond Stickles (wings)
Devine Swirls Cuttlebug Folder
Foam Dots (bees and sentiment)

Like I said earlier the ideas started coming from way deep inside this "quirky head " of mine so by the time I finished I had made about 6 cards for this one challenge. ....Cool Huh?

So I will be giving these to my friends this week to remind them to take care of themselves also.

I will be posting them over the next few days so you to can see them also.

I invite all of you to make a Breast Cancer Card for some one you love and care about....It only takes a little while and who knows it might make a difference it someones life.

Need some Creative Inspiration?
Come join us at CCC the design team has some absolutley wonderful cards to get your creativity flowing...
Already have some idea?
We would love to see them post them at CCC so we can come and visit you and see what you have been up too.
Sorry for such a long blog post, but sometimes you just gotta SAY IT!!! lol...

Hey Crafty Friends

Over at Paper Playtime the challenge this week is Pumpkins or Spider Webs.  Well I figure I would take another look at how to "think outside the box".

Let me start off  by saying I have only been blogging for about 2 months now, and I am so very  humbled everyday by the wonderful comments and friendship that I have developed from this blog... I truly believe that God puts people in our path for a reason and I am so glad he has put you in mine.

It's nice to have friends who understand that getting the newest Paper Stack is a rewarding experience...lol

Having 10,000 pieces of patterned paper is not crazy but COMPLETELY NORMAL  (atleast we bought it with a coupon!!)
And that some paper is so beautiful you could "just EAT it"...

Having the lastest scrapbooking and cardmaking tools is as thrilling as riding a Roller Coaster.

YOU ROCK CARD

Hey all my crafty friends

Sorry I have been  MIA for the last few days, been super busy working out the details of some up coming project.

I have had a serious case of NO CREATIVITY lately and everytime I go to my studio to work I seem to never finish anything....lol with that said, I have literally about 10 unfinished cards sitting on my craft table.  So this morning I finally finished one of them. YEAH FOR ME !!!!!

I made it with my new ROCK PRINCESS cartridge, I really never intended on getting this cartridge, but I am so glad I did.  It has so many cute images and the font on this cartridge is super cute also.

So here is the card I made:

It is a standard A2 card (portrait style) 4 1/4 x 5 1/2
Black Card stock 4 x 5 1/4
Patterned Paper (Hobby Lobby) 3 3/4 x 5
Rock Princess cut at 4 inches (page 28)
Pop Dots
Black Hemp (Walmart)
Sentiment (Clear Stamps)
Rhinestone (Micheals' Dollar Bins)
Stickles (Magenta) skirt,guitar, and headband
Glossy Accents on her boots to give them some dimension and shine
White Gel Pen

CRICUT CARDZ CHALLENGE # 45

Hey Crafty Friends

This week over at CCC  design team # 2  had to make a card for Thanksgiving using any cartridge and any color that we liked.   I used the turkey from Simply Charmed ( he is so cute). And the layering on this cartridge is super simple. Which I absolutely love !!!

Supplies:

Card base is a standard A2 size card ( Brown Cardstock) cut @  5 1/2  x 4 1/4
Mat cut @ 5 1/ 4 x 4 ((Orange Cardstock)
Patterned Paper (DCWV) Holiday Stack cut @ 5 x 3 3/4
Turkey - Simply Charmed cut @ 4 inches

I added glossy accents to the turkey's wings to give him a little more dimension
Satin Orange Ribbon (Hobby Lobby)
Buttons (From my Button Stash)

I had all intentions of printing a sentiment for the outside and inside of the card but my printer decided to not cooperate with my intentions and DIED, so I guess we will be buying a new printer this weekend.....

I encourage each of you to stop by and play along with us at Cricut Cardz Challenge the inspiration is awesome and the friendships are PRICELESS.  Can't wait to see what you come up with....

ELECTION TIME !!!!!!

It's  ELECTION TIME here at A Paper Journey, I really would like your input on what cartridges you would like to see used in the upcoming THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX SERIES.  I am taking a poll  (located at the top of the page for you to pick from).

Also if you have any other suggestion for other cartridges let me know by leaving me a comment on this post.   I would love your feed back.
I can't wait to get started.... We spend so much MONEY on our cartridges why not get the MOST out of them.  One of my followers commented that we get STUCK in the box with what we see in the hand book which then makes it difficult for us to see all the other possibilities  OUTSIDE the box. With some creativity and imagination I think the possibilities are endless.

Example "MINI MONSTERS BABY CARD... (WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT???)

UNTIL NEXT TIME
